Lightning Strikes, but less

I think I’m currently in the middle of an event.  My mouth is pulled, my muscles are tight, but things are decidedly different.

I’m not having constant spasms.  I was woken up twice by two violent “lightning spasms” but the minor ones are very few and far in between.

It is very difficult to type this.  Controlling my fingers seem to be quite difficult.  However, I can walk.

The entire left side of my body is on fire from the spasms.  All those muscles are really sore.  I have ants crawling all over my body.

This is really weird.

  1. Are you in touch with any other people who are experiencing this? I so hope you get relief soon. Hate to think of you going through the pain, my friend.

  2. No. Spasticity is a symptom of MS, Lou Gehrigs, CP, and other neurological issues. All have been eliminated in my case. So, it looks like this is a genetic freak thing going on in my body. My entire life, I’ve had minor spasms. The destruction of coffee cups has been a lifelong joke with me and my peers. However, this was a symptom of the issue.

One possible contributing factor is a potential link to Mad Cow. However, we are working on treatment before going further with finding the cause. If it is Mad Cow, then I have 18 months to live. At this point, I seriously doubt that link, as this is not progressive. I’m getting better. I just have chronic and acute phases. Today, I’m in acute.

If only one part of your body is in pain, do you still take the Lortab? Comparatively speaking, the fact that my leg is at 7 and the rest of my body is at 3, is low pain compared to normal.

I think I’m going to hold off. If the levels increase over the next two hours, I’ll take it.

  3. Sounds like one of those times in our lives when we need to turn it over to our Maker. My prayers for you are sincere and daily. I am so sorry you have to experience this.

  4. 9 am. smaller spasms started. Left foot, biceps, hands, all spasming.
Neck, right hip and tail-bone hurt.
Taking pain meds and resting in recliner on a bunch of pillows. Listening to music and thinking of my four wonderful children and stunning wife.

  5. Just woke up from a 2 hour nap. Still feel some spasms, but hungover from the sleep and Lortab. Drinking green tea. I didn’t realize how much pain I was in. I think I was hitting a 9.

These acute phases are exhausting. Karen, Craig and Kathy all visited me around lunch today and Fr. Craig gave me the sacrament of unction. My spirit feels good even though my flesh is decidedly weak.
