Open Wi-Fi Networks

What amazes me is the number of “open” wi-fi spots there are. I have started taking my Palm to every doctor or dentist visit I go to. Almost all are not secured and I can easily piggy-back and check my email.

My latest trek was to the dentist for one of my children. She had two cavities to be filled and I new that this would take about an hour. I dread sitting still for an hour reading old magazines. I thought, hey, let’s bring my hand held and see if I can read the news. It was no problem. She went in to see the dentist, and I pulled out my T|X. In a matter of seconds I was able to update my AvantGo pages and started reading the news. I decided to check my email to see if they had the ports blocked. Nope, I checked all my email accounts and sent one to my wife at work. I then decided to check out GoogleMaps. I found out that if you look for a business with GoogleMaps it gives you the option of saving the business to your contacts. I now have all the Wal-Marts around my home town and my in-laws home town in my contacts. Pretty cool. Then my daugther was finished with her dentist visit. Damn. I’m looking forward to the next visit. I wonder what I’ll be able to add to my contacts then.
