I tried something different.\u00a0 I wanted company.\u00a0 I usually invite a single person over for coffee.\u00a0 This time, I invited three people over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The result was amazing.\u00a0 I found myself just watching people interact.\u00a0 Not talking to me, but talking to one another.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I really cannot wait to do it again.\u00a0 My heart had a lost piece replaced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The issue, I believe, is when you are a lock in, you are rarely around activity.\u00a0 Sure, I’ve had people over for dinner parties since I’ve been locked in, but they were about entertaining people. This was cozy.\u00a0 This was intimate.\u00a0 I was able to just serve coffee (my mother-in-law did that) and cake (one of my friends made an amazing pumpkin cake.)\u00a0 We just talked.\u00a0 They just talked.\u00a0 They stayed longer than we originally planned.\u00a0 I was honored and intrigued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I didn’t realize how much I missed being able to be part of small-group interactions.\u00a0 I feel emboldened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Yes, I collapsed after they left.\u00a0 Yes, there was recovery time.\u00a0 Yes, there was pain.\u00a0 But, what I am leaning in living with this disease is you must sacrifice pain for doing things you love.\u00a0 The intense pain and the threat thereof is the prison guard.\u00a0 That is what really makes the prison.\u00a0 You can show no fear.\u00a0 You just live your life, trying not to over do it too much, and be prepared to pay the price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the case of Coffee and Communication with Compadres, the price was well spent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
